Administered by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, MHFA is the nation's leading mental health skills training program. Similar to CPR, MHFA equips individuals with practical skills to provide initial support until appropriate professional help is obtained, or a crisis is resolved. During this interactive course, participants will learn to identify early, and escalating signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use concerns, how to approach and support someone who may be struggling, and strategies for connecting individuals with appropriate resources. The training also explores risk factors, protective factors, and ways to reduce stigma surrounding mental health. This course is designed for adults who want to be better prepared to support friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors, or members of their community. No prior mental health experience is required.
