Join artist Andrew Sigman for a fast-paced, laughter-filled caricature workshop perfect for kids and adults alike. Andrew breaks down the art of cartoon portraiture into simple, approachable steps that make sketching faces feel natural and fun. You’ll begin with a short, engaging lesson on how to visualize the face in a simplified way, capture someone’s likeness with just a few key features, and make confident, quick artistic decisions. Then the real fun begins: a lively drawing session where everyone sketches everyone! With Andrew offering supportive guidance, participants will create as many caricatures as they can. Every student will be drawn by Andrew—and will draw each of their classmates. Thanks to a partnership with artist Andrew Sigman, MSU Extension, and 4-H Macomb, students can explore digital art using classroom-provided iPads, Apple Pencils, and the powerful Procreate app. This hands-on 4-week series introduces young creators to the essentials of digital illustration in a fun, accessible, and beginner-friendly environment. Each session builds on the last, starting with a guided introduction to Procreate’s tools and features and gradually moving into sketching, inking, coloring, and layout techniques. By the end of the series, students will have the foundational skills needed to begin crafting and publishing their own webcomics—and the confidence to continue growing as digital artists. Drivers Education - Segment 1 (2026)Drivers EducationMichigan’s graduated driver licensing process requires that teens 17 and younger take Segment 1, Segment 2 and a Driving Test. For more information about the state’s graduated driver licensing process and teen driver safety, visit the Secretary of State website: https://www.michigan.gov/sos/license-id/new-drivers For questions regarding Drivers Education, please email ce@warmemorial.org Requirement: Students must be 14 years and 8 months to 17 years old. Please read all of the information on this page carefully BEFORE you choose a class and register your student. Driving instruction: Driving instructors will set up drives with students around their schedule. On the first day of class, students need to know their availability during the three weeks of class as instructors may begin assigning driving times that day. Important After successfully completing Segment 1, students will receive a Segment 1 Certificate. This certificate needs to be taken to the Secretary of State to obtain a Level 1 License as soon as possible. The process will be explained to students in class, but students and parents should read the Segment 1 Certificate for more information. Please keep this certificate in a safe place. Learn how to respond effectively to adult, child and infant cardiac and choking emergencies, sudden illness, bleeding, and other life- threatening. You will also learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and your vital role in the chain of survival. First Aid and Adult/Pediatric CPR/AED certification card will be issued upon successful completion of course requirements (valid for two years). Whether you have an older phone with a cracked screen, a laptop with battery issues, or just want to learn how devices work, this is the place to do it. Guided by fellow Grosse Pointe community member and high school student at Grosse Pointe North High School, Gavin Perry has experience in electronics repair, both through GPPSS Tech Department fixing Chromebook's, and personally. He currently fixes phones/laptops not only for himself, but for his friends as well! Here’s how it works: Guided Repairs – Work alongside experienced repairers as we walk through common fixes like phone screen swaps, battery replacements, and basic laptop repairs. Hands-On Practice – No device? No problem. Practice on our provided devices and tools. Open Tinkering Time—Try repairs on your own gear, explore new techniques, or collaborate with others. This isn’t a formal class—it’s a collaborative community workshop where we learn by doing, share skills, and help each other out. The session will run 3 hours, and all skill levels are welcome! Starting SoonMiddle School DancesYouthWhen the lights twinkle and the music starts to play… the Holiday Sweater Dance begins!Calling all 6–8th graders to the festively decked halls of the War Memorial on Thursday, December 4th, 6:30–8:30pm for a merry night of music, friends, and holiday fun you won’t forget. Students are encouraged to wear their most creative holiday sweaters—ugly, funny, cozy, or sparkly! Awards will be given for the most festive and imaginative looks, so let your holiday spirit shine! Each ticket includes a voucher for one slice of Jet’s Pizza (pepperoni, cheese, and gluten-free available). Additional slices, chips, and cookies will be available at the snack bar for $2 each. Both cash and credit are accepted. A complimentary water station will keep dancers hydrated throughout the night. Want to join the fun as a chaperone?
