We'll go over the foundation of crochet i.e. how to hold a crochet hook, yarn tension, creating a foundation chain, basic stitch(es), and more. If you used to crochet but you need a refresher this class is perfect for you, too! All supplies are included for the duration of class. Lines That Last: An Engraving Workshop with Suki LiuAdult: Creative ArtsIn this two hour beginner-friendly engraving class, we will discuss the basics of rotary engraving on glass surfaces by local engraver Suki Liu. We will go over a brief introduction, discuss the different types of engraving available, troubleshoot various surfaces, and some do’s and don’ts of engraving. Students will practice with rotary tools provided by the instructor for in-class use as well as other basic tools needed, learn about basic strokes, safety precautions, and how to finish your piece with a metallic finish, as well as some tips and tricks along the way to help students engrave their very own piece. This class will include 1 item for you to engrave and take home as a keepsake, as well as a guide book on the class curriculum. Although the drills are for in-class use only, students will be able to purchase their own “complete engraving kit” for an additional cost at the end of the class if they choose, this is completely optional. This class is perfect for anyone looking for a unique way to level up their gifting, as personalized engraving takes gifting to the next level, providing a deep and personal sentiment to your next present. About The Instructor Suki Liu is a calligraphy and hand engraving artist based in the greater Metro Detroit area, and is the owner of Signed By Suki, where she builds connection through artistry through the art of personalization. Suki started teaching workshops in 2021 and has instructed over 3,000 students during her 4 years of teaching. She has also learned under multiple chief calligraphers of the White House, has traveled to multiple states as a live engraving artist, and has been seen live engraving the name of the 2025 Rocket Classic winner on the trophy live on network television. The music will guide the pace of the practice as we sync breath to rhythm, build heat, and awaken the body. As the sun lowers and the energy softens, we’ll transition into a grounding Yin practice and sound experience with Lisa Fischer (IG@strengthmeetssound) designed to release tension, restore balance, and create space within. Dena Bostwick (RYT-500) brings over 15 years of dedicated yoga practice and more than 500 hours of training to her teaching. She completed her foundational training at Lifetime in Bloomfield Hills and her advanced studies at Vikasa in Koh Samui, Thailand, where she trained with renowned teachers Jonah Kest and Alexey Vyazovov. Topics include surviving the elements (shelter, water, and food), signaling and navigation. Did we mention all the squirt gun fights and other fun zombie survival games? Parents even though zombies are just fantasy, your kids will have a lot of funlearning valuable outdoor and safety skills!
